Kyphoplasty is a procedure to treat fractured or porous vertebrae. There are two different procedures: substance-destroying (e.g. balloon kyphoplasty) and substance-preserving (e.g. radio frequency kyphoplasty). The surgery can be minimally invasive (without large incisions) and restores vertebral height. The indicator in the Swiss Atlas of Healthcare shows the frequency of kyphoplasties performed.
