A vaccination is the most effective way to protect against various potentially serious diseases and their complications. The vaccine mimics a natural infection to trigger an immune response. The indicator on basic immunizations in the health care atlas includes all vaccinations recommended for infants in the Swiss Immunization Schedule (version January 2023): Diphtheria-Tetanus-Pertussis (DTP), Poliomyelitis (IPV), Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib), Hepatitis B (HBV), Pneumococcus (PCV), Measles-Mumps-Rubella (MMR) and Chickenpox (VZV).
