Antidepressants are various active substances that are mainly used to treat depression. The Swiss Atlas of Healthcare shows antidepressants dispensed by outpatient care providers. With regard to the dispensing of medication in the inpatient sector, no comprehensive data is available. When interpreting the indicator, it should be noted that psychiatric care in Latin-speaking Switzerland focuses more on outpatient services, while inpatient care in psychiatric clinics and psychiatric departments of general hospitals is more important in German-speaking Switzerland (see also Obsan-Bulletin 03/2024).
