A hip ultrasound screening is an imaging procedure of the pelvis using ultrasound. It is recommended in newborns for the early detection and treatment of malformations of the hip joint so that long-term consequences can be prevented. The Swiss Atlas of Healthcare shows the frequency of hip ultrasounds in newborns overall, and broken down into inpatient and outpatient settings. The analyses on outpatient settings only take account of treatments covered by the compulsory health insurance. The analyses do not include treatments covered by invalidity insurance (IV).
