Chest x-rays are imaging examinations that use x-rays to view the ribcage (thorax), revealing bones and tissues. Chest x-rays are used in particular to assess the heart and lungs. The Swiss Atlas of Healthcare shows the frequency of chest x-rays in outpatient settings. In inpatient settings, chest x-rays are not systematically recorded under the current coding regulations as they are a routine examination.
