Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an imaging technique that uses a powerful magnetic field and radio waves to produce cross sectional images of the body. The Swiss Atlas of Healthcare comprises analyses on the overall frequency of MRI scans, and separate analyses broken down into inpatient and outpatient settings. To measure the frequency, this indicator counts the number of cases for which an MRI image was produced (not the number of images).
